The story begins when the author travels with his friend to Basra. At one point in their journey, the author expresses his choice to breed an otter because after losing his pet dog, he feels lonely. His friend suggested that he find it in Marshes near the Tigris River in Iraq. When they got to their destination, they found that only a friend’s mail had arrived. A few days later, a friend left while the chatter was waiting to receive his email. After receiving it, he went to his room to find an otter (presented to him in a sack), accompanied by Arab help with a message. He named the otter Mijbil, and simply Mij.
It took a while for Mij to get used to his place. Mij loved to play with water and learned to turn on the tap himself. Time is running out for Basra, however, now it was time to return to London. Since British planes did not allow animals, so he had to book another flight that allowed Mij to fly, but in a box. The narrator put her in the box an hour before the plane took off and went out to eat. When he returned, he found that the box was still there and that Mij had created holes and destroyed the inner lining. As a result, blood gushed out of the pits. She panicked and rushed to the airport just ten minutes before the plane took off.
He cleaned the box and arrived on time at the airport. Also, he described the whole incident to an air traffic controller who suggested that he keep a container in his lap. Gavin was grateful for his kindness to her. As soon as he opened the bowl, the otter jumped out and disappeared, thus becoming a commotion on the plane. The passengers were nervous. The air traffic controller then took him to Gavin and finally arrived in London. Mij loved ping-pong balls and marbles. He even developed entertainment with a narrator’s broken suitcase.
